Can U help us with our catalog?

allCanes needs the help of our loyal customer base when it comes to our 2006 catalog and how we should proceed. As we know, this is the information era and the power of the Internet is growing leaps and bounds every day.

With allCanes.com we can upload/remove product in an instant. We currently stock over 700 items online - whereas the 2005 catalog featured 350 items. Once an item is sold out, it's taken down from the site. Conversely, when new merchandise hits our shelves during the season - it's immediately added to the site.

Obviously we are not afforded that same luxury with our first class catalog. Once it's shot in June and released in August, no changes can be made to the showcased inventory selection.

We are in the midst of putting together a catalog-related questionnaire. As we forge ahead into the information era, we want to make sure that we pay attention to the needs of all our customers. If you like the catalog, love it or have become indifferent since allCanes.com has launched and grown - we need to know.

If you'd like to comment, please do so via the blog here. Just click 'comments' at the bottom of this particular blog, check 'other' and then comment away. Your thoughts are appreciated.

Below are a sample of the questions we'll be sending out.

- Which best describes how you purchase merchandise from allCanes - in store, catalog, phone orders or online?

- How long have you been receiving our annual fall catalog - a few years, more than a few years or never before?

- How often do you annually shop with allCanes.com?

- Have you ever ordered any merchandise from the catalog? If so, did you order online or phone in your order?

- How did you first discover allCanes.com online - search engines, a link from another site, our catalog, etc.?

- If allCanes were to stop producing an annual catalog would you stop shopping with us, shop less, order more online or phone in your orders?

Any other thoughts or comments are appreciated.

Sincerely,

allCanes.com Management Team

Keep the Nike Mock turtleneck a regular part of the catalog.

Love to see lots and lots of ladies stuff!
Last season you guys had a fabulous denim mini-skirt at the store but not on the web site…Should have bought it in-store when I saw it, but I busted my budget and thought, "I'll just order it online come payday". Much to my dismay it wasn't there. Guess it sold out quick!
Keep the HOT ladies gear coming --the sexier the better!

and Go Canes

I really like the online site rather than the catalog. While the catalog is fun to look at, the internet seems to be a better resource for what is actually on the shelves and available. There is nothing worse than finding something perfect, going to order it, and the store being out of it...false expectations.

I've been in your store and have gotten your catalog in the past. I don't recall getting it last year but even if I did, I order online now.

The catalog is cool to check out and y'all do a great job with it. I just prefer ordering online nowadays. A lot easier and as the person above wrote, nothing worse than wanting to order something, thinking it's in stock and then it's sold out.

Plus, you guys get a lot of stuff in during the season which goes online and since the catalog is already printed, it isn't in there.

I have no problem receiving the catalog to check it out, but as far as "using" it - I haven't called in an order with you since the National Championship season.

I really like the catalog. While I always end up ordering online, it's the catalog in my desk drawer that reminds me to go back out to allcanes.com to look for new items. Of course the catalog models are pretty easy on the eyes, too. I understand that producing and distributing a high quality catalog can be a substantial expense, and the temptation is to try and eliminate that line item on the P&L. But my assertion is that catalog produces orders throughout the year because it's attractive enough to keep around rather than being discarded after an initial order. Heck, I'm thinking of promoting it to "coffee table book" status. Of course, I could just be another overzealous fan. But I believe that the catalog does serve a useful purpose in driving additional sales. There's something about receiving the catalog and sittting down to peruse the items that just isn't the same when logging on to a website. (like receiving a Dell catalog, looking through the deals and specials, then going online to order) Hey, what about a smaller, pared down color catalog sent multiple times during the year with seasonal photos and deals (like Paradise on a Hanger's www.hotshirts.com catalog)? That way you get a reminder out to buy on a more regular basis and perhaps cut your catalog costs, too? In any case, I think a hard copy catalog remains an important part of your sales and marketing strategy. Good luck!
