The biggest reason I can't take a loss...
I hate Sean Glennon.OK, let me rephrase that. I want to punch the kid and rip that wagging tongue out of his head. Then I'll shave a reverse-mohawk out of his Dumb and Dumber-esque, pumpkin-pie haircut and pour sugar down his pants.
Not really, but the point is that I still can't get this picture out of my head - Virginia Tech celebrating on Miami's once-sacred turf back in December 2004 after their 16-10 win at the Orange Bowl.
The winner went to New Orleans for a BCS game (Sugar Bowl), representing the ACC. It was the inaugural ACC season for both Big East defects and the Hokies came into our house and took the title. Afterwards, they spent a good 30 minutes celebrating on the field. Stomping the U logo, taunting the fans and pouring condiments all over the turf.
I asked my then-fiance to marry me the night before and woke up Saturday morning for some Hurricanes Football. Everything was on the line and I expected The U to deliver. They didn't. In many ways, this was one of those 'beginning of the end' type games, indicative of where the program is today.
Little is on the line when Miami and Virginia Tech go toe-to-toe this weekend. We're talking the difference between the Blue Turf Bowl, a Citrus Bowl, Emerald Nut Bowl, Toilet Bowl. This one is meaningless.
I've heard Larry Coker oft state that this team is playing for 'pride' this weekend. I guess. Personally, I'd have liked to see some pride when blowing a halftime lead against Florida State. Some me something more than a 31-7 loss a Louisville after the pre-game logo stomp. How about exacting some revenge on Georgia Tech after they ruined Miami's season in 2005. Instead, the 30-23 loss last weekend put GT on the fast track to Jacksonville. Where was the pride in this season's three losses?
All that said, I'll agree with the 'pride' motivator going into this week. Not that I believe it'll make a difference, but after what Virginia Tech did in Miami's house two years back 'pride' should've been the motivator if this team was 8-0 or 5-3.
Glennon's smug mug in the picture above nauseates me. I hope our kids see this pic and remember his punk-ass dancing around the Orange Bowl in a game where he never even took a snap. (Bryan Randall was the signal caller back then.) For a back up quarterback to prance around the field in a game where he did nothing? I've longed for the day when Glennon would start against the Canes and prayed he'd take some abuse out there.
Of course I didn't expect that day to come when Miami was in the toilet and Virginia Tech was a favorite in our casa. For those of us who thought 16-10 was 'rock bottom' a few years back... I think we'd LONG to be 8-2 and one game away from a BCS berth.
Glennon is the least mobile quarterback Miami has faced in 2006 and I pray that the defense tattoos this kid for his antics a few years back.
After his reaction in 2004 can you imagine how he'll gloat this season if he actually leads his team to a win, instead of just playing the role of ugliest cheerleader?
Smack Glennon up something fierce, fellas. Hell, give me a helmet and let me plant my head in his spine.

Dude, I want to cut that kid. I remember seeing that pic in the Herald the morning after.
Those a**holes celebrated on our field for a HALF HOUR after the game. I almost ran on the field with my buddies to scrap, but our ladies talked us out of doing so and getting arrested.
Miami coaches already brought the team inside the locker room, so they missed it all --- and the idiot Miami cops just watched it.
VT coaches and players are scumbags. I fully expect to lose more games this season, but I REALLY WANT TO F**CKING WIN THIS ONE!!! I hate Tech. Save our season by ruining theirs.
To me, after FSU our biggest rival which I despise is VaTech. They're still living off the Vick years (Michael) and the media seems to love them. ESPN always espouses Tech being a great, hard-working, blue collar team who work for everything they get. Funny how they ignore their tactics on the field. The U is labels as thugs from teams two DECADES ago, but watching games the past few years it's the Hokies who talk trash every play, twist ankles in piles (ask Moss and Gore), and late hit. But since it's not The U, it's let go. Let us do that once and it's talked about the rest of the year. But back to the game, this should be a rivalry game in a way. This is a team who plays bully and we have let them for the past few years. Step up, get tough, and pull out a damn win! You can't finesse Tech. TAKE the win, don't beg for it and hope it comes. MAKE IT HAPPEN!
Well hell, I remember in 1996 when we played Virginia Tech, their Hokie mascot and our Ibis got into a fight, haha! VTech fans have always been scum as have their players. Personally, I hate VTech more FSU or anyother rival we've come across.
Are you really going to trash VT for celebrating the biggest win of the their season in 2004 when your team of A**holes celebrates on other people's fields before the game? Oh and might I say continue to lose after doing that celebrating! It's always easy to blame someone else but maybe you should look at the character of your own team first. The "U" should be called the "I" because everyone on your team plays for themselves and a trip to the NFL. The U has no real "team" and that is why U LOSE! I wish I was comin down for the game to see another celebration on your field... it's a great rivalry but not too much to celebrate since GT seems to have the ACC wrapped up.
I too cannot stand VT. They SUCK. They're right up there with FSU and U of F as far as I'm concerned. If we only beat two teams a sesaon, as long as its FSU and VT, I feel a little bit better.
I think Vee tech is probably my most hated team. From their punk-azz antics to their coach. Only the Coker "possum-face" expression is uglier than this corn-pone grease monkey who runs their team.
Perhaps the football Gods will give us CANE fans some love this weekend, but I seriously doubt that a coaching staff who cannot even get their players on and off the field without calling a timeout will have enough of a game plan for that to happen.
If yet another loss will help seal Cokehead's fate, then I can live with that. Kinda hard to kill a program that is already dead.

Anonymous Chokies Fan - Yes, I am going to trash Tech for what they did in 2004.
Miami hopping on the Louisville logo PRE game was dumb and they got waxed as a result.
For VT to gloat for THIRTY minutes after an ugly 16-10 win... it was classless.
Pregame banter which lasts under :30 is completely different from a 'rub your nose in it' POST game celebration.
Especially with Miami back in the locker room, unable to defend their house. It was cowardice.
