God bless our Virginia Tech brethren today...
A lunatic gunman murdered 33 students and residents in Blacksburg, Virginia this morning. This bloodbath occured on the campus of our longtime rivals and is already being called the deadliest shooting rampage in American history, according to federal law-enforcement officials.God bless Blacksburg and our Virginia Tech brethren today. This is beyond tragic, incomprehensible and disgusting. I'm not sure if I even have it in me to blog about something of this nature. There are no words in a time like this, outside of "what in the hell is wrong with our screwed up society?"Little commentary is necessary. Words feel useless and pointless right now. Seems more logical to say a prayer and think of all those impacted by this.

I just want to say that my thoughts, prayers and condolences go out to the VT family. This is just awful!! On the football field I hate the Hokies, but I would never wish this on anybody. What kind of sick world are we living in?? These kids were just starting their lives!! It's crazy!!!!
Our thoughts and prayers are with the Hokies today. Another senseless tragedy at a learning institution. What makes me sick is how the media is already jumping on the "must be the darn video games" soapbox.
big pimpin
all canes should print those VT and the U shirts the Student Government printed. sell them and send the proceeds up there just like we did for Pata.
Deepest thoughts to the people and families of the victims of that horrendous act. From such tragedy you also see heroes emerge, engineering Professor Liviu Librescu, who died trying to barricade the door of his Virginia Tech classroom to keep the gunman, Cho Seung-Hui, away from his students. Actions such as that are indescribable in what bravery was displayed by Professor Liviu Librescu. How many among us can truly say they would do what he did?
On another note, it should have been expected to see people across the nation calling The U "stupid, insulting, jerkish, etc." for bringing extra security along with them for the baseball trip up to Blacksburg. These are also probably the same people though that make sure their doors are locked, have their windows rolled up all the way and hide their purses under the seat when they see someone of a different color crossing the street in front of them at a stop light. Here's a nice quote from a truly intelligent commenter on the ESPN website ... "a school so well known for its student/athlete/criminals needs additional security to feel safe? Sheesh..." I guess they all overlooked the fact that Jim Morris handed over a check for $10,000 to Hokie Spirit and Memorial fund. I guess they also overlooked the fact that The U tried to help bring normalcy in a time of tragedy back to a campus that just had the worst shooting rampage in modern U.S. history. The U could've declined going up to play Virginia Tech or moving the series to another time or date or location .. but they didn't. It never ceases to amaze me how asinine people are, but then again, that's what makes them them .. and it doesn't make them us.
